When we woke up in Calgary yesterday morning, it was -5 Celsius and the car was completely frosted over. The closer we drove to Kamloops, the warmer it became. We had lunch outside on the patio at a bistro in Salmon Arm, an hour away, and arrived home early afternoon. Once we'd unpacked, we went for a walk around the neighborhood and it seemed like everyone gardened on the weekend. It was +19. This is why Canadians talk about the weather so much. We have some.
We went to visit our daughter and son-in-law to celebrate Easter and to help clean their apartment and cars ready for our not yet huggable grandbaby who is due in three weeks. We also picked up Chloe The Puppy... who is not really a puppy... she's actually over two. She'll stay until we go back and hug the baby. She likes the busy road behind our house and especially the puppy park across the street.
We forgot the part about taking her for a long walk just before bed. She cried and went to sleep only to wake up when Kyle got home and then she cried and went to sleep only to wake up when he got up for a drink and then she cried and cried and wanted to go outside and then outside again and finally Howard got up and they watched TV in the den together. Now that the three of us have given up on sleep and have started our day...
... she's sleeping. We'll be going for a long Long LONG walk tonight although it won't be nearly as difficult... I hope. First nights away from "the parents" are tough on "kids" and then things settle. I have a feeling that she'll spend a lot of time on the couch in my studio, which is fine. It's one of my favourite places too.
While we were away, our youngest son hide Easter eggs all over the house. We're slowly finding them. How fun. This morning, he and Howard have gone to a specialty parts business an hour and a half away to pick up some pieces for Howard's upcoming work in Guatemala. I had no desire to get back in a car this morning. I'm going to read blogs, run, get dressed, journal, take Chloe for a walk, and work on the fitting shell. I sewed in my head while I was gone and I think I have everything worked out. More tomorrow.

Grateful - visiting and coming home
